Surroundings
Drenthe is one big outdoor playground. Forests, heathlands, winding streams and cosy village greens. Our campsite is located right in the middle of the forest. You hear the rustling of the trees, the birds and… not much else. At night, it is truly quiet here.
Whether you come to relax, explore or enjoy adventures with the family: there is always something to do.
Gieten
Gieten is an old es village with a traditional village green (brink). Here you will find:
- supermarket
- bakery
- butcher
- liquor store
- cheese shop
- drugstore
- various restaurants
It is located 1 km from the campsite. You can easily walk or cycle there.
Canoeing on the Hunze
Fancy a peaceful adventure on the water? At Breeland Recreatie in Annen you can rent canoes for a trip along the Hunze. A beautiful route through the landscape, suitable for young and old.
Walking and cycling
Drenthe is the cycling province of the Netherlands, with more than 1,200 km of cycling routes. Using the junction network, you can easily create your own route. Walkers can choose from short children’s routes or longer day hikes.

Fishing at the Zwanemeer
The Zwanemeer is a lovely fishing spot with carp, coarse fish and predatory fish. For Klein Zwanemeer you need a special permit, available in Gieten (Groene Vakwinkel Greving).
Adventure, peace & nature
From burial mounds to sandy paths, small lakes and beech avenues: the nature around Boscamping Zwanemeer is pure and varied. Roe deer, badgers and sometimes even kingfishers are regularly spotted.
